DAVID AND GOLIATH

While still a child I became obsessed with the Biblical story of David and Goliath, and the Michelangelo sculpture of David. The story has great power, because it tells us that no matter the adversary that we face, if we align with the Divine we are sure to be victorious. We are not speaking here of our struggle to get that promotion or win that football game. We are speaking of the great battles of our life, when we are seeking to actualize the challenges and goals that are placed before us in our life’s journey. The adversary could be internal, such as the struggle to overcome an addiction or our anger issues.

To succeed we need to remember that all the power that we need is already within us, so we need to cast off all of the feelings of weakness. Meditate on the character of David and the power that he felt inside. Repeat internally the fourth affirmation from my “Be One” book:

“I am Divinely-empowered to meet any challenge or obstacle along my path.”

Remember that when you align with your purpose guidance and support will come to you from unseen forces. You never walk your path alone.

Affirmations, Karma and action

AFFIRMATION #8

In my “Be One” book, I included some affirmations at the end of the book, in the epilogue. Since April 10 I have been writing commentaries on those affirmations. Today’s commentary is on the eighth and final affirmation, as follows:

I AM A PART OF AND FULLY CONNECTED TO THE SUPREME WEB OF EXISTENCE

When we realize that we are not this physical body we also recognize that we are not subject to its limitations. On a fundamental level everything is energy and on that level we are connected to all persons, forms of life and even non-sentient objects. We recognize that we would not want to cause harm to anyone as in doing so we are actually harming ourselves. We see ourselves in others, but also the ever-present Divine. Walking in a natural setting we can sense the energy of the plant life and perhaps even exchange communication. This sense of unity brings immense joy as we know that we are home.

Affirmations, Unity

AFFIRMATION #7

In my “Be One” book, I included some affirmations at the end of the book, in the epilogue. Since April 10 I have been writing commentaries on those affirmations. Today’s commentary is on the seventh affirmation, as follows:

WHEREVER I DIRECT MY ATTENTION, KNOWLEDGE IS IMPARTED TO ME

Everyday there are opportunities for learning and as long as we are alive we should be curious and open to the expansion of our knowledge, which can come to us in unexpected ways.

In the Patanjali Yoga Sutras there is a description of a type of meditation called “samyama,” which essentially consists of an unbroken concentration on an object that yields knowledge of that object.

While we may not be able to achieve the degree of concentration described in this text, what this tells us is that knowledge will be made available to us if we draw that knowledge to us through our intense desire and will. It may come in various forms. For example, a teacher may come into our life, or a book may present itself to us. We will always find support, and especially so if we earnestly seek greater knowledge of our true nature.

Affirmations

AFFIRMATION #6

In my “Be One” book, I included some affirmations at the end of the book, in the epilogue. Since April 10 I have been writing commentaries on those affirmations. Today’s commentary is on the sixth affirmation, as follows:

I SPEAK AND LIVE MY TRUTH

Whether we know it or not, each of us carries into our life unique qualities and gifts. However, our socialization from the time we were a child causes us to be outer directed, so that we place our emphasis on conformity instead of actualizing who we are. We can spend our entire life this way, leaving in our wake the “could have been” and “could have done” potentialities.

It is our authentic self that we must bring to every moment of our life. What a different world this would be if we all would simply allow our true self to shine!

Affirmations, Being Authentic

AFFIRMATION #5

In my “Be One” book, I included some affirmations at the end of the book, in the epilogue. Since April 10 I have been writing commentaries on those affirmations. Today’s commentary is on the fifth affirmation, as follows:

I AM A CHANNEL OF DIVINE LOVE AND HEALING

Once we get over the false notion that “God” is a threat and realize that it is the source of everything that we have always wanted, we will be asking ourselves how we can better connect.

There are so many activities that can help us to better align ourselves and connect to the blessed divine Source. Here’s a non-exclusive list:

meditation
prayer
breathing exercises
japa (mantra recitation)
kirtan (devotional singing)
hatha yoga
running or walking in a natural setting
Tai Chi
calming or devotional music
Reiki energetic healing
dancing

You name it… In truth, anything that brings enhanced joy and peace into your life. It should energize you and cause you to feel more alert and alive.

Once you become familiar with how to connect, you can learn to act as a divine conduit, or channel, to bring greater joy and peace into any situation, which in turn increases your connection with the Divine. In that way you become a spreader of love and healing.
